Homework

English or maths homework and spellings will be given on a Friday. Please do not spend longer than 30 minutes on the homework. Both are due back in  on Friday.

Cracking Times Tables

Cracking Times tables will be tested on a Monday.  If your child answers all of the questions correctly in 3 minutes, they will be moved to the next level.

Spellings

Spellings are given out every Friday and tested the following Friday. Children will be given their spelling books to take home after the test to show their parents their result.  Please ensure that  the book is returned on Monday.  If your child loses their spellings, copies are always available in the classroom. If your child is away when the spellings are given out, please encourage your child to check their tray for their spellings.

Reading In school

Please ensure that your child brings in their reading book and reading diary every day.  Mrs Malewicz checks your child’s reading diary on a daily basis and change if required.  If your child reads the recommended 3 or more times a week, they will receive a class dojo.

Your child  participates in a small  guided reading group every Tuesday and Wednesday.  They will alternate between a fiction and a non-fiction text. Please ask your child about the book that they are reading to see what they can remember.

The school library is open every break time where the children can change their library book assisted by Mrs Kelsey.  We will try to visit the library on a Friday so please ensure that your child has their book with them.

Reading at home

Reading is one of the most important things you can do with your children to help them learn.  Please try and listen to them read as much as possible. Ideally this would be every day but please try to listen to them at least 3 times a week.

Don’t Forget…

  • Please bring in a named water bottle for the classroom.
  • Please send your child in with a piece of fruit/vegetable to eat at break time.
  • PE kits are needed in school every day.
